Hello everyone!

As you have heard by now if you’ve been reading our recent posts, we were featured in this past Saturday’s Charm City Farm and Garden Tour. It was a lovely event put on in partnership with Baltimore Green Space, Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks, CGRN (Community Greening Resource Network), Farm Alliance of Baltimore City, Parks & People Foundation, University of Maryland Extension (UME) and UME Baltimore City Master Gardeners. The first part of the event was a bus and bike tour of city gardens and farms, followed by a garden party at Cylburn Arboretum.

We were happy to present our garden to the tour group that came around 5pm to see us. They were excited and asked us all about square foot gardening and the other techniques being used by our gardeners. Some people had a few suggestions about what they thought we could do to improve, but everyone agreed that we’ve done an impressive job considering that we’ve only been around for one growing season.

At the garden party, after lots of delicious food and some outdoor music, the Baltimore City Master Gardeners got up to announce the best gardens and gardeners and to give them awards. Lo and behold, they read out our name as the winner of the Best New Community Garden category!

All of our gardeners, supporters, and donors should give themselves a big pat on the back. Next on the agenda: finding a frame and a good place to hang this certificate in the shed. Happy gardening, and congratulations to everyone!

  1. Awesome. So Proud of us.

  2. Wohoo! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to bring this garden to life and show it off to the outside community! I wish I could’ve been there last weekend to see it in its glory!

  3. Aw I was on the bike tour and we didn’t get a chance to visit! As a hopkins student it would have been pretty cool to take a look. I guess I’ll just have to go on my own one of these days…
